2024 Summer Programs

At Green Ivy Educational Consulting, we encourage students to step back, reflect and dream big while learning practical strategies for purposeful learning. Our summer programming is equal parts learning, exploring, and creating systems to make students feel energized and confident throughout the year.

Our summer offerings include our college advising services, which includes our 4 day college application jumpstart, as well as our individual and group writing programs. We offer our signature Organizational Workshop for middle school and high school students as well as our College Success Program for those headed to or currently enrolled in college. Have questions? Be sure to reach out and we're happy to answer.

College Admission has become a faulty finish line.

Students feel overwhelmed and under-prepared.

It doesn't have to be this way.

Our college advising programs are thoughtful, holistic and personalized based on the unique interests and talents of the students we work with - we've helped budding filmmakers, mathematicians, novelists, computer scientists, and biochemists think through how to explore their interests in high school and beyond.

Students begin with an initial consultation where we review current coursework and discuss course selection for the following year(s). We encourage students to find and pursue activities based on their interests, discuss summer plans, and explore new opportunities. The cost of the initial one-hour meeting is applied to any of our college advising options.

To help students navigate the college advising process, we offer three distinct programs: the Platinum College Advising Program, the Gold College Advising Program, and the Silver College Advising Program.

To sign up for any of our college advising programs, please contact us.

Platinum College Advising

Our Platinum College Advising Program is geared towards students who would like detailed and ongoing support and want to work directly with Ana. It includes more detailed academic advising and coaching along with college advising and essay application support. It includes the initial consultation, up to 30 one-on-one coaching sessions, and our intensive four-day summer application jumpstart.

Gold College Advising

The Gold College Advising Program includes the initial consultation, 15 one-on-one sessions with one of our staff members, and the intensive four day summer application jumpstart. This is our most popular option and works well for students who are organized and motivated, and need guidance and support on creating their best possible application.

Silver College Advising

Our Silver College Advising Program is for students who are planning to apply to 3-5 schools and/or may be a recruited athlete, and may not require as much ongoing support. This advising option includes an initial consultation, five one-on-one sessions with a member of our staff, and our intensive four day summer application jumpstart (completed the summer after junior year).

College Application Jumpstart

The Green Ivy College Application Jumpstart is essential for every rising high school senior.

Our jumpstart is a one-of-a-kind, comprehensive program designed to help rising high school seniors navigate the nuts and bolts of the application process. We devote sixteen hours over four days to help students organize their applications to shine a light on their talents, interests, and unique gifts. We review initial college lists, recommendation letters, personal statements, activity lists, and supplemental questions, along with the basic information for the Common Application, Coalition Application and other pertinent applications. Students generally conclude the workshop with a solid foundation for a personal statement, as well as guidance on drafting and editing supplemental and short answer questions.

Each session is limited to 6 students, and meets on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of the workshop week.

Note: For students working with us on the entire college advising process, this workshop is included, and otherwise can be done as a standalone option.

Custom Session Available: Perfect for a small group of friends to work on their applications together. Must all agree to the same dates/times in advance. Please contact our office to schedule.

Writing Programs - Individual & Small Groups

Put simply, great writing changes lives.

At Green Ivy, we know effective writing skills open doors to diverse worlds of opportunity, creativity, and knowledge. For nearly two decades, our engaging, interactive, informative and fun writing workshops have made students rekindle and expand their love of written craft.

We offer both one-on-one and small group options. Our one-on-one writing sessions are personalized to the needs of each student. We use writing samples and a pre-workshop questionnaire to hone in on areas of growth and opportunity.

We individually design our curriculum for each one-on-one workshop based on several factors. First, we ask students to submit two (2) current writing samples, and use those to better assess skill level and potential strengths and opportunities for growth. We also send parents a questionnaire to help us determine which specific areas a student hopes to focus their efforts on, including, but not limited to grammar, personal statement, research paper development, literary analysis, argumentation, summer reading assignment, idea development and self-editing strategies, narrative writing, expository writing, and persuasive writing. In addition, the questionnaire helps us discover topics of interest and any perceived strengths and weaknesses.

We offer our writing workshops during the summer (June-August) in packages of 5 sessions of 90 minutes or 8 sessions of 60 minutes. We work with students both in-office and virtually, so our writing programs are accessible to students all over the world.

To sign up for our individual programs, please contact us.

Small group programming - TBD. If you have a group of students who would like to do a writing workshop together, please reach out to our staff.

Organizational Workshop

Our 90-minute Organizational workshop is a fun, encouraging way for middle school and high school students to step back, reflect and dream big while learning strategies for purposeful learning. We discuss organizing (physical and digital), planning, prioritizing, managing distractions, scheduling and study habits, as well as the importance of time and energy management. Students leave motivated, inspired and optimistic around their own personal and academic goals, and our focus on daily and weekly habits feels accessible and empowering. During the school year, students generally continue with weekly or 2x/weekly sessions to support habit formation and implementation of goals.

College Success Program

College has always been a time of transition, reflection, exploration and opportunity. Under the best of circumstances, the transition to college life can feel exciting, disorienting, energizing and overwhelming. And today, many students arrive on campus needing extra support around organization, planning, prioritization, starting and completing tasks and adaptable thinking. For many, the last few years have significantly impacted the development of critical executive functioning skills.

Our College Success Program is aimed at supporting students through the transition to college and beyond. During the summer, our coaches work with students to navigate class schedule, housing, weekly schedules and foundational strategies to ease the transition academically, socially and emotionally. Spots are limited and tend to fill early.

About Us

At Green Ivy, we've spent over two decades supporting student success and well-being through our executive functioning skills coaching, writing workshops, and college advising. Our college counseling bootcamp has been described by high school seniors as "both fun and stress-relieving." One middle school student said the writing workshop made her "love reading books again." We consider those some of the highest compliments. For more information on our work, please contact us.
